Mississippi master plein air watercolorist Wyatt Waters will be releasing a new
book The Watercolor Road based on his travels through the American South.
Waters will be signing the books at Main Street Books, 210 Main Street, in
Historic Downtown Hattiesburg on Tuesday, August 23 from 5 to 7 PM.

Wyatt Waters has announced the release of his latest book, The Watercolor Road, Painting
and Writing through the American South. The book showcases an impressive collection of
133 paintings, 21 essays, and an array of adages that depict both the South and his relentless
trek to be a better painter as a mindset rather than a destination.
“I have wanted to do this for as long as I can remember, to paint the South, the place we call
home” said Waters, “To do so I had to be there. To feel and experience it directly — not from a
studio.”
This desire has led Wyatt and his wife, Kristi, on a two-year journey, pulling a 16-foot Casita
travel trailer behind the “Pastormobile” throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia,
Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, chronicling the South’s
popular and obscure with his vivid and expressive watercolors.

Having long contemplated his feelings and observations on painting and living through his
writings — The Watercolor Road features the many truths Waters has learned along the
way and how he applies them to his art and to his life.

The Watercolor Road will appeal to aficionados of southern culture as well as those who
enjoy the act of painting and desire a deeper understanding of the “whys" of painting more
so than the “how-tos”.
