Downtown Hattiesburg Possibilities Tour, in Partnership with Mississippi Power, The Area Development Partnership, and the City of Hattiesburg, Connects Investors with Opportunity

Local leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs gathered in Downtown Hattiesburg on Thursday, April 23, for the Downtown Hattiesburg Possibilities Tour, a strategic initiative designed to spark new investment and reimagine vacant spaces in the city’s urban core.

Hosted in partnership with Mississippi Power, The Area Development Partnership, and the City of Hattiesburg, the tour provided attendees with direct access to a curated selection of properties currently available for sale or lease. The experience was designed to move beyond traditional listings, offering participants the opportunity to step inside each space, envision its potential, and engage directly with property owners.

Reflecting Mississippi Power’s commitment to reinvesting in its community, the tour offered developers and investors a meaningful opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore powerful incentives designed to drive business development. Participants gained insight into resources offered through Mississippi Power and the Downtown Hattiesburg Association’s Facade Improvement Grant Program.

“This tour was designed to showcase the potential of locating your business in downtown Hattiesburg. City officials, real estate professionals, developers, and investors were given a close-up look at multiple properties that can help turn their dream into reality. When our downtowns thrive, the entire community thrives. Mississippi Power is proud to help support this economic growth initiative,” said Tomeka Wiley, Commercial Development Project Manager, Mississippi Power.

Featured properties on the tour included:

  • Mississippi Music (222 Main St.) – For Lease
  • Coney Island (400 Main St.) – For Sale
  • Prospect on Main (522 Main St.) – For Lease
  • Dollar Box (600 & 606 Main St.) – For Sale
  • 1001 Main St. – For Lease
  • Komp Building (319 Pine St.) – For Lease
  • A Gallery (134 E. Front St.) – For Sale

The overarching goal of the tour was to be a catalyst for the preservation and economic revitalization of Hattiesburg’s historic downtown district by helping investors and entrepreneurs see not just what these properties are, but what they could become. By fostering real-time conversations between stakeholders and property owners, the event created a platform for ideas, partnerships, and future development opportunities to take shape.

“This tour is about more than showcasing available properties; it’s about building on momentum,” said Emily Gallaspy, DHA Executive Director. “Downtown Hattiesburg has incredible potential, and by bringing the right people into these spaces, we can begin to unlock new energy, new businesses, and long-term investment in our community.”

Transportation for the tour was provided by Hub Buggy Rentals, allowing participants to conveniently travel between locations while experiencing Downtown’s connectivity and vibrancy firsthand.

“We’re incredibly grateful to our partners, property owners, and our amazing committee of volunteers who participated in making the Downtown Hattiesburg Possibilities Tour such a success,” said Emily. “The enthusiasm and collaboration we saw are exactly what it takes to bring new life and vision to these spaces, and we are excited about what comes next for Downtown.”
