City of Hattiesburg Recognized for “Outstanding Infrastructure Improvement Project” in Downtown Hattiesburg

The City of Hattiesburg was honored at the Mississippi Main Street Association’s Annual Awards Luncheon, where The Commons at Gordon’s Creek received the Outstanding Public Infrastructure Improvement Project Award.

The Commons at Gordon’s Creek transformed an overgrown, underutilized property at the gateway to Downtown Hattiesburg into a vibrant community gathering space. Designed to support outdoor recreation, arts, and cultural programming, the project enhances both the beauty and functionality of downtown while creating new opportunities for residents and visitors to connect.

The park features green spaces, walking paths, and public art, creating an inviting environment for people of all ages. It also serves as a flexible venue for concerts, farmers markets, festivals, and other year-round community events, further strengthening Downtown Hattiesburg as a destination for culture, recreation, and engagement.

We are excited to see the continued growth and transformation of Downtown Hattiesburg and look forward to the many projects, events, and partnerships that will shape its future.
