South Mississippi Ballet Theatre is coming back to the Hattiesburg Saenger Theater Stage on April 11th and 12th to showcase The Sleeping Beauty!
South Mississippi Ballet Theatre is dedicated to bringing the highest level of classical ballet training to the Hattiesburg area. It is our goal to educate both children and adults about the training, culture and history of classical ballet while offering them a chance to pursue the art in whatever capacity they choose.
The Sleeping Beauty tells the story of Princess Aurora, who is cursed at birth by the fairy Carabosse to prick her finger and die, however, the Lilac Fairy softens the spell so she will instead sleep for one hundred years. On her sixteenth birthday, Aurora falls victim to the curse, and the entire kingdom is plunged into enchanted sleep. A century later, Prince Désiré, guided by the Lilac Fairy, finds the hidden palace, awakens Aurora with a kiss, and breaks the spell, leading to a joyous royal wedding that celebrates love’s triumph over evil.
