Rita Brent & Friends will perform live at Hattiesburg’s Historic Saenger Theater on Friday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Rita Brent & Friends Live is being presented in collaboration with the AIDS Services Coalition (ASC) and will commemorate 20 years of the agency’s service to the Greater Hattiesburg area and the state of Mississippi.
Rita is a Mississippi Native who began her career in stand-up comedy in March 2013. Since then, she’s been featured on Kevin Hart’s Hart of the City, TruTV’s Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, and Epix TV’s Unprotected Sets. Rita has released three singles, “Kamala,” “Raised in the Sipp,” and “I Deserve to Be Alive.” She currently tours as a featured act with Rickey Smiley and Cedric the Entertainer. Rita wrote for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards and is a staff writer for Comedy Central’s “Tha God’s Honest Truth with Lenard “Charlamagne” McKelvey.” Tickets for the show range from $24 to $45 plus fees and can be purchased through the Saenger’s website or through the link https://ritabrent.eventbrite.com.
Since its inception in 2002, ASC, along with volunteers and community partners, has worked to fulfill its vision of stopping HIV and its impact on our community. ASC provides services to some of our community’s most vulnerable residents- individuals who are HIV positive and those at the highest risk of HIV infection, including men, women, and children living with mental and physical disabilities, drug addiction, and homelessness. ASC’s programming serves clients in 73 of Mississippi’s 82 counties. Today, the organization has become a critical partner throughout the state in housing, supportive services, and advocacy.
This project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts and National AIDS Memorial.
