Why downtown matters
“Downtown is important because it’s the heart and soul of any community. If you don’t have a healthy downtown, you simply don’t have a healthy town.”
– Ed McMahon, Chair, National Main Street Center Board of Directors.
When you invest in the Downtown Hattiesburg Association (DHA) , you are investing in the future of Hattiesburg. By strengthening existing place-making efforts and serving as a catalyst for economic growth and development by creating a sense of place and pride for the community, DHA is improving the quality of life in Hattiesburg
Through the Investment Partners program DHA is able to leverage investment dollars and stakeholder influence to effect change. DHA’s program of work implements a series of short-and-long term projects in the areas of Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion and Organization.
DHA strives to: ensure there is a vibrant business community in downtown, enhance the appearance of the Main Street District, publicize the shopping and dining opportunities, and plan special events that will draw people to spend time Downtown.
