Dog Days 5k and 2 Mile Walk at FestivalSouth is an event benefitting Hub City Service Dogs, a nonprofit organization in Hattiesburg, MS, that task trains service dogs for individuals with medical disabilities. The race is a part of FestivalSouth, a multi-week event series in South Mississippi that offers free and ticketed art events to local residents and tourists.
The 5K and Two-Mile routes will both start (and finish) at Kamper Park (105 Park Avenue in Hattiesburg), at 7:30 a.m. This is a pup-friendly race, with water stations for both runners and canines along the route. (All dogs are required to be conditioned, vaccinated and on a fixed leash.)
The route will take participants through the Avenues of Hattiesburg, a quaint neighborhood with a shaded path. Community volunteers, as well as clients of Hub City Service Dogs, will be there to cheer you along the way! Be sure to get your doggo ready for the Run-by Dog Pageant with local celebrity judges (Dogs to be identified during the run/walk by participants’ bib numbers. More info below.)
Finish your event to get a CUSTOM FINISHER MEDAL (see ** below for award information) and at the FINISH LINE FESTIVAL enjoy breakfast by Topher’s, vendors, entertainment, door prizes, photo opportunities, entertainment and lots more fun for both race participants and their pets. **note: OVERALL male/female awards will be given in the run and the walk both with and without dogs, as well as, custom FINISHER MEDALS for all participants who complete their event. NO AGE CATEGORY AWARDS WILL BE AWARDED.
