Spring is here, and that means it’s the perfect time for an ultimate girl’s day out in downtown Hattiesburg! The Hub City’s downtown district has much to offer, so whether you are a local or looking to visit this charming downtown, you’ll find plenty of shopping, dining, self-care, and picture-perfect backdrops to spend your day with your best gals. 

Breakfast at The Depot

Start your morning off right. Whether it’s gourmet coffee or made-from-scratch biscuits for breakfast, The Depot Kitchen & Market has you covered. In its new location on Walnut St., The Depot continues to serve breakfast, a deliciously unique lunch menu, and some of the city’s best coffee. “Bru’s Breakfast Bowl” was named a top dish in 2019 by Wherever I May Roam. 

Explore the Pocket Museum 

Iced coffee in hand, go exploring to find Mississippi’s tiniest museum. Hidden in the heart of downtown, the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum alley is full of interactive art, miniatures, and rotating museum and theater exhibits. With exhibits changing monthly, pop-up events, and more, you can always find something new to enjoy in Hattiesburg’s most creative alley.

Shop the Lucky Rabbit

There are lots of nooks and crannies for you to enjoy at The Lucky Rabbit. This junk joint is an eccentric exploration of vintage items, handmade goods, and repurposed furniture. As seen on HGTV’s Hometown, this 15,000-square-foot, self-proclaimed junk shop, features various vendors specializing in vintage, collectible, antique, nostalgic, and handmade items. Make sure to stop and take a picture with The “Hattiesbird” mural on the east side of the building. In spring 2023, The Lucky Rabbit is expanding! With two buildings full of vendors and all sorts of oddities, you may need to bring an extra bag (or two) on your shopping adventure.

All your shopping and exploring is definitely going to work up an appetite. Enjoy a custom cheese plate from Twin Forks Wine & Provisions or a pop into Downtown Nutrition for a protein shake or loaded tea.

Hattiesburg is on the fast track to becoming the “City of 100 Murals,” and many of those art installations are downtown. Enjoy large murals, hand painted utility boxes, sculptures, and more on the HBURG Public Art Trail.

Bourbon on Front is the hottest new restaurant in downtown Hattiesburg. Located near the Saenger Theater, you can watch the sunset over downtown while you sip handcrafted cocktails on Hattiesburg’s only rooftop bar. 

Dinner at Trattoria Pizzaria 

Get ready to chow down on some authentic Italian food after a long day adventuring downtown. Trattoria Pizzeria has the perfect menu for sharing meals with friends. Order a hand-tossed pizza for the table or dive into a bowl of your favorite pasta. Don’t forget dessert! A tiramisu or a limoncello cake is the “cherry on top” of this girls day out!
